The Muslim community of Foz do Iguaçu has its roots in Arab immigration in the early twentieth century. The Islamic Beneficent Cultural Center (CCBI) was founded in 1981 to preserve Islamic identity, promote Arab culture, and serve as a spiritual home for the growing local Muslim community.
The construction of the Omar Ibn Al-Khattab Mosque was the most significant milestone — today considered the largest mosque in Brazil, welcoming more than 45,000 visitors per year.
With minarets rising more than 25 meters, the mosque accommodates up to 2,000 worshippers.
To be the leading Islamic center in South America, a reference in halal tourism, Islamic education and preservation of Arab-Muslim heritage in Brazil.
