The word Islam in Arabic literally means "submission" — voluntary submission to the will of Allah (God). It is the monotheistic religion revealed by Allah to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in the 7th century CE, and the world's second largest faith with more than 1.8 billion followers.
Islam is not merely a set of religious rituals, but a complete way of life encompassing spirituality, ethics, law, economics, and social relations, guided by the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ.
